Oregon wedding while on holiday…

I was pleasantly surprised when the below image popped up on my LCD display after taking the picture.  I shot this photo while doing a wedding for Jourdan Moore at the 5 Rock Ranch outside of Yamhill.  We were just below the snow line, and it was very wintry outside.  Unfortunately that meant it was completely frigid, and so images were confined to the indoors.  So, I was grateful for this image, which was shot with nothing but my camera and a strobe triggered remotely.  The reflection in the window behind the bride came in place of what should be a late afternoon scene of a river.  The overbearing flash made short work of that, giving this cool perspective which reminds me of the multiple exposures seen in some work of portrait and wedding photographers.

Coming soon will be more photos of my trip to Palestine and Israel, as well as a few other shoots I did over the holidays in Oregon.  I hope the new year is going well for all, thanks for those who have stayed tune despite the crazyness of the last two months…I promise to keep posting more consistently.

Joel - Thanks, Heather! I’m using Elinchrom Skyports to trigger the flash. They’re great, and I’ve never ran across a situation they can’t handle.

Heather España - Joel, this is BEAUTIFUL! Nicely done! It’s very ethereal. Question: what are you currently using to trigger your off-camera flash? Pocket Wizards or are you using radio poppers?
