A little about me…

Thanks for stopping by the blog, you'll see what I've been looking at through my lens, hear what I'm kicking around in my head, and find out all the other fun stuff about what I love to do, like hang out with my stellar family (photo right).

Born and raised in Portland, the NW is my home. The parks, the coffee, access to beach and mountain, river and forest. I began photography, combing the streets of Portland with a Pentax K1000. My love for photography has only grown since then, and I can hardly walk out the door anymore without a camera in the bag. It's what I love.

One facet of my appreciation for the art is being intentional about what I'm seeing, and relaying the essence of that moment through the story in a photo. I enjoy getting to journey with people through their wedding day, celebrating the engagement of lives to be spent together, which is why I got into wedding photography. I see it as a gift to be present in these times. As a result I'm very intentional to be non-intrusive while I relay the wonder of the moment, the nuances, the spontaneity.

I enjoy the art of story telling, so that's what I do with my photographs. In telling your story I work to discover how who you are and what is important to you connects with my creativity and style, as the result is unique and artistic, a reminder of your story, and most importantly you.

holiday party with newberg photographers!

So, let’s just say that the Newberg Area Photographers have been kicking up their heels! We got together at the Rupp’s place for baked goods, mulled wine, white elephant gifts, telephone pictionary, and a lot of laughs. Thanks friends for a fun night kicking it around town…although I am bummed it was too cold to play frisbee golf with wreaths! Maybe next year…

Leah was sporting the Elvis shades I brought home from the gift exchange (above center, in the SWEET shades). Emily actually got them IN Memphis! Nice!

Above you can see one of my favorite moments, where Rachel lit a match with a lighter! Johnathan, John, and Erin smiled their approval for this ingenious move, and John followed suit (above right).

And here’s the crew! Good times!!! (above) Quick shout outs to Brandon with the only turtle, and our new friends Alex and Angelina! And of course, my white elephant gift of Bryan in selective color was stolen by Emily! (below left) And then our Heather’s dear photographer husband Mike screamed as I took a parting photo (apparently it’s the norm for him!).

And, of course, my favorites! We did a little head flinging and caught it on 1′s and 0′s (digital medium, that is). Don’t worry, Rachel wasn’t really being punched, it’s a trick of perspective!
