Now that the new office is setup I thought it would be fun to take a self portrait, while playing with some lighting. Any guesses as to lighting techniques I’m using here?

Mike, that’s hilarious.

For sure. Seriously, you have skills.
i would have to go with “serious” lighting. cuz you’re in a “serious” pose.
I know, i got skills, not photography skills but other stuff.
Mustache?!?!?
You’re hired!
I’m guessing the best technique lies in actually leaving the lights on. Let me know if you need me to be a 2nd at any of your weddings this summer

This is Newberg, where I currently live. It’s been typical off-and-on stormy weather today, and I love it. I grew up in Portland and have never lost a love for this weather. When it pours rain for 5 minutes, then is blue sky for 15, then storms again, it reminds me that breaks are always...

Yes, but Colorado is nice, too.
This made me miss Oregon today.
love the photo.. it speaks volumes about the valley and its beauty. I assume those are Filbert trees.
Thanks for sharing!

It’s always fun when the people you photograph are simply fun to be around. Zach and Crystal meet the prototype, and not only are they fun but they know how to pick a fun location. I have to say that Domaine Margelle Vineyards near Silverton was stellar! The possibilities for shooting seemed endless, and knowing...

Thanks so much Joel for taking some amazing shots!!
You got some great shots! I love the ones in the tall grass best.
Thanks, Shelley! And I hope you’re doing well!
Just gorgeous! I think my favorites are the black & white one and the one of them tucked into a doorway…
I guess I will be the first. I don’t normally comment on people’s blogs that I don’t “really” know. But since it’s going to get someone something for free, then I will! (And I guess I do kind of know you. I went to Fox and used to work with your lovely wife at the Coffee Cottage.)
Anyhow, I love the pictures!

Wow. Has it really been this long since I’ve posted? All I can say is the amount of painting and moving we’ve been doing has had nothing to do with that…well, maybe a little bit. BUT, we just got internet at the new house and I am again up and running! So, to kick off...

Yup, he even brought the tripod to the beach so we could get a family photo but we got too cold before we set that one up…oops! I guess I should try to pry the camera out of his frozen fingers once in a while so Joel’s in some pics, eh?

I just found out from one of my favorite couples, Abigail & Thomas, that their wedding was featured on Bella Umbrella’s blog. You can check it out HERE. We figured it was going to rain for the wedding, so Abigail & Thomas looked into spicing up the wedding with some fun umbrellas. Although the wedding...
