First, I want to apologize to you, my faithful readers, for your patience as I’ve been silent lately. Obviously (as the last post indicated) things have been new, life-giving and full. However, there is more to divulge. As of December 20, 2010 I am now the Communications & Resource Coordinator for the Northwest Yearly Meeting of Friends (Quakers).

Now, some of you may be saying, “but what about your photography!?!” Please rest assured, my photography will be continuing. For those of you hoping to book me in the future, please know my services will now be available, but things will be on a case-by-case basis.

That said, I want to continue sharing what I’ve been photographing since September this last year. Starting us off is Adam Sweeney & the Jamboree. I used to gig with Adam back in the day…OK, I guess that was only about 3 or so years ago. He’s now releasing a new album under the above name and it rocks! I did some photos for the album, website and promo. The following is the result from our romp in Portland.

For those looking for a nice getaway in the general Newberg area, the Feller House is a beautiful bed & breakfast run by Barb & Arnie Mitchell. For information on the historic farm home and what they offer, please visit them HERE. After a morning of taking photographs of the grounds and rooms, here are several that depict the general feel and aesthetic the Mitchells have created with the space.

These two are dear friends and neighbors, and I was stoked to be photographing their recent engagement (wedding to come later!). Darryl is an amazing graphic designer for George Fox University, and Geez magazine (among many other stellar projects!). He was the one who designed our new logo and business cards. We had a blast romping around the canyon at George Fox University, and here are several of our favorites from the day. Congrats you two, and thanks for letting me photograph this journey for you!

around oregon: mount hood sunrise

There are so many reasons why I love the NW. This morning as I drove toward the Wilson River for some fly fishing I was captivated by the rising fog as the morning steadied itself for the coming sun. Looking off to my right I noticed hundreds of geese circling. Beyond them, the below scene. With about 5 minutes to go before the sun was up I found a driveway, grabbed the tripod and camera, and started snapping photos as the geese kept gliding in and out of the frame. When the sun curled over the ridge it began to create a brilliant rim light upon the valley fog. I have many memories of being on Mount Hood, and one of my favorites scenes in Oregon is seeing it tower above the valley floor, serene and unmoving. Juxtaposed against the geese that migrate with the seasons, I found the scene offered a good tension of the two ways of being: unmoved and moving. I hope you also resonate with something in this photo, and that your day is filled with beauty and wonder.

I just found out from one of my favorite couples, Abigail & Thomas, that their wedding was featured on Bella Umbrella’s blog. You can check it out HERE. We figured it was going to rain for the wedding, so Abigail & Thomas looked into spicing up the wedding with some fun umbrellas. Although the wedding was in Princeton, NJ, they found this stellar umbrella rental company based out of Seattle, WA. And I have to say that although the day turned out to be perfectly blue, the umbrellas were totally amazing and added a lot of fun to the photos! Here’s one of my favorite parts of the wedding where they decided to stop at the amazing Bent Spoon for some amazing gelato! You can check out the rest of their wedding HERE to relive all the fun!
Besides, the ice cream, a couple of the groomsmen hooked up a game of checkers on the park’s stationary chess board, using acorn caps and acorns. Brilliant!

That’s about all I’ve been working on the last couple days! Here’s a couple spreads from Thomas & Abigail’s wedding, which if you didn’t catch their photos the first time around you can right here. I have to say, Fundy Album Builder is probably the best investment I’ve made for album design! If you’re a photographer and looking to save some time and still have custom options at your creative disposal, check them out. I’m now getting 20-30 page albums done in around 1-2 hours. It’s a beautiful thing!

grayce’s senior session: oregon coast destination.

This shoot was a blast, especially as we were shooting on location in Rockaway Beach, OR. Since Grayce is also my cousin, the whole family, Cherice, and I had a blast running around to different locations and enjoying the coastal breeze. Congrats Grayce!

tricia & gilberto: a school house wedding.

Not long ago I had the chance to be a part of a dear friend’s wedding. It was held outside of Newberg at a little camp called Tilikum, where an old school house became host to this lovely and intimate wedding. Here’s a few of my favorites.

The pillow used for the rings was made by a very good friend, and I have to say it was very beautiful hand work.

At one point Tricia sang a song she had written (below), the old room made it sound all the more amazing.
