Lately Espen has been taking to photography as if he is my apprentice. He insists on a tripod, too. Below is the little man in action.

Today we did a shoot of a couple tiles from his grandfather (Fine Art Tiles), and he added his own personal touch of the chess pieces. The below photographed was completely arranged and shot by Espen, with grip help from yours truly.

Then, because the lights were already set up, I decided to snap a couple quick shots of the photographer.

around oregon: mount hood sunrise

There are so many reasons why I love the NW. This morning as I drove toward the Wilson River for some fly fishing I was captivated by the rising fog as the morning steadied itself for the coming sun. Looking off to my right I noticed hundreds of geese circling. Beyond them, the below scene. With about 5 minutes to go before the sun was up I found a driveway, grabbed the tripod and camera, and started snapping photos as the geese kept gliding in and out of the frame. When the sun curled over the ridge it began to create a brilliant rim light upon the valley fog. I have many memories of being on Mount Hood, and one of my favorites scenes in Oregon is seeing it tower above the valley floor, serene and unmoving. Juxtaposed against the geese that migrate with the seasons, I found the scene offered a good tension of the two ways of being: unmoved and moving. I hope you also resonate with something in this photo, and that your day is filled with beauty and wonder.

We had a great time shooting Lori & Greg’s wedding photos a while back. You might remember them from their engagement shoot. The wedding was on a gorgeous summer day–the kind we’re wishing for about now!

Lori & Greg have an obvious love for each other and their families, so it was fun to capture pictures of people enjoying one another and this special occasion. Congratulations, Lori & Greg, and thanks for having us do your photos.

a league of their own: wedding parties with style

That’s right, this was strictly A League of Their Own! Grace and Jared decided it would be fun to have a softball game 2 days before their wedding, and they went all out. I have to say that the uniforms were stellar, and I can’t even begin to count the number of times people passing by the game would ask me who these people were, and I’d just say “it’s a wedding party!” And the game was fun to watch, too. Grace used to play pro ball, and so did a couple other of the gals on the team, so there weren’t too many dull moments! Not to mention when someone nailed the Porsche who had decided to park in a random parking spot right behind a baseball diamond. Really smart parking job.
